The scope of industry statistics covers Mining & Quarrying, Manufacturing, Water and Electricity for the purpose of compiling Index of Industrial Production (IIP), which is its main focus. The index describes the change of the volume of goods and services produced over time, it is also a short term economic indicator which is used to measure the growth of the economy during a chosen period of time, for a given base year. It has a wide range of users who assess and compare the most recent economic situations, these include the government, private sector, research institutions, technical experts, policy makers and analysts and NGOs. The data used in the compilation of the index are collected from sources through self-administered Microsoft Excel tables.
