Dr. Lekobane is an accomplished statistician, researcher and development policy expert whose career reflects a deep commitment to harnessing the power of data for national transformation. He brings to the role, a wealth of experience spanning over a decade in statistical research, and evidence-based policy analysis.
He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Development Studies from the University of Sussex’s Institute of Development Studies (IDS), as well as a Master’s Degree in Statistics and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Statistics and Economics, both obtained from the University of Botswana.
Prior to this appointment, Dr. Lekobane served as a Research Fellow/Statistician at the Botswana Institute for Development Policy Analysis (BIDPA). His expertise spans quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, with strong focus on multidimensional poverty, social protection, welfare, and inequality. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journals, working papers, policy briefs and has presented his work at various international conferences, cementing his role as a thought leader in development policy analysis. Over the years, he has also undertaken high-impact research and consultancy projects that have directly influenced national policy formulation.
