In his opening remarks, Deputy Statistician General (STO) Mr Dabilani Buthali commended the technical committee for their commitment in ensuring that the structures were inaugurated within a short period of time and he was confident that the team will succeed in delivering their mandate.
On his part, Deputy Chief Executive Officer for NBFIRA, Mr Sriram Gade congratulated SB in taking the first step by organising the inaugural workshop following signing of the MOU.
He advised that in order to make the Economic Diversification Drive (EDD) programme successful, correct data should always be provided. He further said that the two agencies should address the data problems by strengthening the data management systems and capacitating staff.
Also during the workshop various presentations were made to the committee concerning the Botswana Strategy for the Development of Statistics (BSDS) implementation and the Botswana Data Quality Assurance Framework.
Going forward SB and NBFIRA will work together in the compilation of the National Accounts Report among others.
